Happy Tails: Garfield

"Thought I would let you know Garfield is doing fine. Everyone says be careful what you wish for, I wanted a lap cat lovable, cuddly, but Garfield goes to extremes when I am home he wants to be with me all the time. He wakes me up to eat before my clock goes off which is fine during the week, He is getting better on the weekends the first couple he got me up at 5 but I told him Saturday, Sunday we don't have to get up that early, and this past Saturday, I woke, and he woke at 8am, I was so happy.

"Anyway just wanted to let you even though sometimes he is a pain in the butt, I love him and he certainly loves me."

Happy Tails: Violet & Skittles

"Skittles and Teresa are doing great! Teresa's new name is Violet, but we kept the name Skittles. They get along really well and love playing together. They have a lot of new toys that definitely keep them occupied for hours. Skittles is sitting with me as I type this. He says "Hi!" to all of his friends at Mary's Kitty Korner. Violet is sitting in the window checking out the neighborhood.

"They are both wonderful cats and we are very lucky to have them. Violet is a love! She is very affectionate and sits in my lap every night. She did have a sinus infection, so she has been on antibiotics and nose drops for a few weeks, but is doing much better.

"Skittles is such a nice cat! I'm surprised that nobody adopted him before. He was a little shy at first and mostly stayed upstairs, but now he is more comfortable.

"I have been telling everyone that going to a no kill shelter is a great way of choosing a new cat. It give us the chance to spend time with the cats and choose the right ones for us. Skittles and Violet have been a joy!"

Cat of the Week: Princess

Princess has the most gorgeous fur, though we are not quite sure what type of kitty she is. She has silver, brown and black colors. She is so sweet and loves to be carried around the shelter in our arms. She is a wonderful cat and would make an awesome pet for a cat loving family.

She is quiet, but so friendly and cuddly. She is young too! Come visit Princess at our Granby location.

Happy Tails: Lucky

"Here are some pictures of Lucky and her brothers. As you can see she is well loved by them (and of course us, too). She loves water and runs when she hears the faucet turned on . . .I will have to get a picture of her playing with the water."

Happy Tails: Yuri, Mandy, & Pumkin

"Everyone is doing well in their new home. Pumkin and Yuri like to get into mischief together and compete for a spot on my lap. Pumkin sometimes wakes me up with a couple taps on the eye to let me know he is hungry, but its better than the time Yuri did a cannon ball onto my stomach in the middle of the night.

"And Mandy, after a few weeks mostly under the bed, is also out and exploring. She loves to look out the window and sneak a cuddle with Yuri & Pumkin."

Cat of the Week: Chi Chi

Chi Chi is an adorable little girl, just a little over a year old. Although shy when she first came to us, Chi Chi has quickly built up her courage and likes it when people pay attention to her... in fact, she often snags people with her paw when they walk by her cage.

Being so young, Chi Chi is naturally playful and loves all toys equally. She doesn't mind a little scritchin' from people either. Please come visit this irrestistable baby girl at our adoption center in Granby.

Cats of the Week: Fat Cat & Trouble

These two boys are nothing like what their names imply, they are sweet, lovable, mushes! They love to be brushed, petted and kissed. They are a bonded pair and must go together, so please don't ask us to split them up.

They are waiting for their forever home and don't deserve to be at our shelter, as they are pure housecats that will show their appreciation readily! Come visit them at our Granby location.

Happy Tails: 3/5/12

Happy Tails: Merlin & Harry

"Merlin and Harry are now "Bubba and Jethro". They rule the house and seem very happy! They both are very playful and still love being with each other. I love watching their little routines everyday. It starts with trying to wake me up, eating and then all hell breaks loose! They wrestle together and run around the house chasing whatever they can find to play with, then they nap and start allover again. Bubba is the leader and the more affectionate one. I hold him often, they are both so friendly I cannot believe it!! Bubba is the one with the thinner face and Jethro has the bigger eyes and rounder face. It took me awhile to be able to tell them apart. They are eating dry and can food and love to eat!!

"I had a problem with sleep deprivation before I decided to keep them out of my bedroom at night, they wanted me up all night playing with them. I am still getting up much earlier but love them so much it doesn't matter to me.

"They are exactly what I wanted personality wise and are very healthy also. It ended up being a good match for everybody.Thank you for the excellent job you do trying to find homes for these wonderful little beings!!!"

Happy Tails: 2/29/12

Happy Tails: Rocky & Jerry
"Little Blue kitty is officially out and playing (translate bugging Jerry). Here are a couple of pictures of the little devil. Thanks again for expanding our family."

Happy Tails: Precious & Pumpkin

"Precious settled in quickly. She is a joy – friendly and affectionate. She loves to play for hours chasing her toys from room to room. Pumpkin is getting there – slowly but surely. He stayed under the bed for the first 3 months whenever I walked in the room. I kept the door closed when I wasn’t home so he felt safe.

"In December he finally came out when I was in the bedroom feeding him. Then he started venturing out – exploring room by room. Now I leave the bedroom door open and he has free reign of the house. He will stay in a room with me and follow me around the house, but I can only pet him on his terms. The progress is tremendous, but he still has a way to go. I am so glad the two of them have each other. They get along so well."

Happy Tails: 2/20/12

Happy Tails: Jessie

"Jessie is doing sooo wonderful. She has adjusted much better then we expected. She was up a little last night wandering around and meowing, but came to me in bed for comfort. We got her a scratching post and toys. She has been eating but I don't think she has gone to the bathroom yet. At least nothing in her litter box.  She is sun-bathing now and purring. My daughter is so happy with her. We are giving her lots of love and I feel she was the perfect choice for us!"

Happy Tails: Noodles (now Bacchus)
"Just wanted to share some photos! He is the best! He had his yearly physical in Jan. and they wrote on his record Sweet Boy! He is so good. Everyone who meets him just adores him. Enjoy the pictures, bird watching, playing with the toy we got from you (his favorite) plays catch with us !!!
I'll keep in touch! We can't wait to get home each day, soon as we settle on the couch to watch some TV he is right there on our lap all night long kneading and purring. We just love him!!!!!!!!"

Cat of the Week: Jessie

Jesse is a beautiful girl who's just a touch over eight years old. She loves it when people pet her and likes to sit on laps.

However, Jesse doesn't care very much for other kitties and would like to be the only kitty in the house. Please drop by our Granby center and see for yourself how beautiful and lovable Jesse is.

Happy Tails: 2/15/12

Happy Tails: Missy
"Just wanted to send you an update on Missy. She settled in nicely & within a few hours of getting here she was wandering downstairs, after exploring thoroughly upstairs. Max had his hissy fits but things settled down quickly. She may be tiny but she has spunk (and she’s quick on the get away). They were nose kissing by Friday night. I attached a picture I took Sunday night. Not the greatest but it show how things have settled in & Max is willing to share “his” bed. The humans are allowed token space. Now they’re using the stairs & upstairs hallway as their speedway. Sounds more like baby elephants than a couple 10 pound cats!"

Happy Tails: Nermal
"Kevin and I just wanted to update you on Nermal. He is very slowly starting to come out of his shell. We both think it will take a little time for this sweet boy. He's eating and drinking just fine. He has his own room with a half door on it,and a cut out window. We keep the door open when we are home so he comes out and explores. He has a bunch of toys, catnip pillow, hidey hole, cat scratcher. Loves to play and LOVES his pets! Just a huge PURRball. Kevin said he's never heard a cat purr so much, even while he's eating."

Cat of the Week: Dior

Dior is a GORGEOUS cat! She is sweet, affectionate and comes when called. She would do great as an only kitty because she would love lots of attention. She is playful, well mannered and is a very clean girl. This sweetie is looking for her forever home, call or email to make an appointment to meet Dior.

Happy Tails: 2/8/12

Arrista (Meadow) & Pumkin (Deno)
"Everyone is doing OK. Meadow is very playful and chases Pumkin all around the house. She also loves to play with her toys. She lets us pet her and she licks hands, but still will not jump or stay on the couch with us.  Pumkin is very content. He comes when called and is very lovable and is happy to cuddle with us.  Both love to explore and have found high cabinets to jump to and sleep. Meadow does sleep on the bed during the day with Pumkin if I'm not home.  If I'm home, he is always with me.  Guess I got what I wanted and they have a good home."

Billie Jean (Charlotte)
"Charlotte (Billy Jean) is a wonderful little girl! She is the first to greet me with a purr when I get home from work, she loves to cuddle at night and I have found her and Bailey sleeping together in a very small bed and in Bay's cat condo, I have also seen him lick her head when they are sitting together. She LOVES to play and sometimes thinks its OK the climb the drapes to get something and somehow she does it even with her soft paws on!...she is learning. They are fast becoming partners in crime getting into things and exploring together. I enclosed a pics of Bay and Charlotte. I found them the other night in the basement window near the ceiling (one of the pics).

Happy Tails: 1/30/12

Happy Tails: Ike
"We adopted Ike a year ago and just wanted to thank you for bringing us together. Ike had a few trust issues (who could blame him), but with a lot of love, patience, and time, Ike has finally reached his comfort zone. Ike came to us with very good manners and we love having him as part of the family. His favorite past-times are: window hunting, kitty tag, playing with his toys, and being a part of everyday life."

Happy Tails: Kiko, Kenker, & Jo
"Just wanted to pass on a hello, thank-you, and update on how Curly (formerly Kiko), Kenky (formerly Kenker) and Uncle Payton (formerly Jo) are doing - they are really doing well, and we are so enjoying them, and I think they're happy/comfortable too. They have definitely made themselves at home. At first Kenky and Uncle Payton were so nervous that they wouldn't come out to eat or allow themselves to sleep (I think). Thank goodness they had each other. But by Monday morning, they were all eating together, and definitely seem to have the run of the place."

Happy Tails: Barney
"Just wanted to let you know Barney is continuing to do super well! He and Bella are still working out the kinks, but in general he has opened up much more to us and the house, often roaming around, checking things out, saying hello, etc. He's even slept in the bedroom a few nights on our computer chair! It's nice to have him close to the rest of us! I want to thank you again for helping us add Barnes to the family. We already love him so much!"

Cat of the Week: Angel

Angel is an extremely lovable, although a bit chubby, girl. She just can't wait for someone to pet her and tries to rub on every person who walks past her cage; needless to say, the cage receives a lot of love from her! Angel's favorite moments are when people open her cage and give her some love. She walks back and forth madly, rubbing herself on your hands.

Poor Angel suddenly found herself without a home when someone moved in who had allergies to her. Now she's starved for attention and anxious for a new home. Please drop by our adoption center in Granby and visit this wonderful girl.

Cat of the Week: Meadow

Meadow is an absolute sweetheart. She enjoys being held and brushed. She interacts well with other cats. Should be fine with a calm dog. This is a cat that had 6 of the most gorgeous kittens who have all found homes, not it is her turn. She is calm, sweet and lovable. She absolutely adores young cats and will mother them.

Meadow is gorgeous, and is waiting for the right home where she can truly be appreciated for her gentle spirit. Come visit her in Granby.

Happy Tails: Sparkey & Sara (now Seinfeld & Chloe)

"They are really doing well. Seinfield is grooming himself more and looks good, I also think he is gaining back some of his weight. We weighed him the other day and he seemed to be up to 15.9 pounds from the 14 that he was when he came from your shelter. He is also playing more and he and Chloe play and groom each other (sometimes he had no choice when she jumps on him and wraps her legs around him and starts grooming…nipping…grooming…nipping and then ultimately sleeping together. They are so cute."

Happy Tails: Noodles

"Happy Holidays love Noodles! We don't know how it's possible(because we love him so much already) but we love him more and more each day!!!!! We wish all of you at Mary's Kitty Korner Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!"
