Cat of the Week: Rascal and Carlos

Carlos and Rascal are a pair of 3 month old foster kittens who will be visiting the shelter this weekend for the open house.

Rascal is a 3 month old tiger who loves to play. Her beautiful eyeliner and necklace-like markings make her look like an Egyptian queen, earning her the nickname Nefertiti.

Rascal is a little shy at first, but once she has a couple minutes to get used to a new person, she just wants to be pet. This little girl is independent and loves to explore, but she is not afraid to let you know when she needs some love.

She would love to find a home with her buddy Carlos because they both do well with a companion.

Carlos is a 3 month old grey and white lovebug who doesn't have a shy bone in his body. He adores people and loves to be held.

At his foster home, he loves to greet people at the door and follow them around like a puppy.

Both of these kittens have had all the shots and vet care appropriate for their age (distemper shots, rabies shot, and deworming). In a few months they will need spaying/neutering, but they are ready to go to a loving home today!

Come by the shelter this weekend to meet these babies and fall in love!

Cats In The News

Three US Marines, while stationed in Afghanistan, began a mission to find home for a pair of stray cats they found. For these soldiers, their inspiration was a bond formed with stray kittens Kiki, who came to Marine Brian Chambers badly injured and Keykey, who was found injured by a c-wire by Marine Chris Berry.

After being nursed back to health, Kiki and Keykey have found homes in the United States thanks to generous donations and help from Nowzad Dogs Animal Rescue, a rescue started Royal Marines in 2007.

Cat of the Week: Tork

Tork is one of our favorites here at the shelter! With his big ears, he won't win a prize for most handsome, but he has the best personality! He will follow anyone around, especially if you have a can of cat food.

He is sweet, and loving, gets along perfectly with all of the cats at the adoption center and we have never heard a hiss or growl from this 1 yr old boy.

Tork is a mellow boy who would love to be a lap cat and would get along great with children or other cats.

He was rescued from euthanasia and boy are we glad we got him just in the nick of time. Please come and visit Tork, he is one of kind.

Tork is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

Happy Tales

"Attached are some photos of Molly, our little Princess. She is a beautiful kitty who meets me at the door when I get home & wants to be brushed & fed. She runs to the laundry where her bed is & lies in it on her back & demands to be brushed under her chin & her tummy.

Molly also sits on the window sill & looks outside. She playfully chases objects around the house."

Cat of the Week: Mary

Mary

Mary is an adorable 10-month old kitten who is full of life and loves to play. She does not like living in a cage though, so she will be most grateful if you come and visit and take her home!

She has really soft fur and a beautiful face. This kitty can go alone or be a companion to a mellow cat, but does not like it if another feline is too pushy.

She wants the attention for herself. If Mary sounds like the kitten for you, come to visit her at our Granby location.

Cat of the Week: Samantha

Samantha

Samantha is a beautiful calico. She was surrendered to a high kill shelter in NJ and found her way to safety here in CT. She is a very large cat, her former owners obviously didn't limit her food intake, so this girl is overweight, but with some food management she can get down to healthy, round figure of a cat.

She is very sweet with people, especially men, and just loves attention. She will tolerate other cats but would love to just sit with her person and be petted.

Won't you please come and meet this girl, she will bring you lots of joy and keep you warm for sure this winter!!

Samantha is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
