Cat of the Week: John

John is one gorgeous fella! What a cute face and a personality to match. He has the triangular look of a Wedge Siamese in a tuxedo body. John has used up one of his nine lives already as he was born with a small hole in his heart. However after blood work, ultrasounds and specialists, John has been deemed healthy and should live out a normal life span.

He is on a small amount of heart medicine daily, which is very inexpensive. He is energetic and loving and would so enjoy having a home of his own. He gets along great with other cats and loves to be loved. won't you please think about taking John home or at least come to meet him. He is a wonderful boy and will win your heart.

Cat of the Week: Lucy & Linus

Lucy and Linus are a brother and sister who would like to be adopted together. Linus is the gray tiger and is more outgoing than his sister. He loves to be petted and will roll around and lick your hands. Lucy is a bit shy, but still loves to have her soft, plush fur to be petted.

They would be a great fit for a quiet household that needs some lovable kitties. Please drop by our adoption center in Granby and visit this pair.

Cat of the Week: Peter

Peter is a great cat - just as lovable as can be. He likes to hang out near the door where he can welcome the visitors and maybe score some pettins. He loves it when people give him lots of attention. He does have a playful side and likes to chase the laser light a bit.

Peter gets along easily with other kitties and is ready to give love to whoever takes him home. Please drop by our adoption center in Granby and visit this special boy.

"Just wanted you to know that she has adjusted to her new home very well. She does have to adjust to my 2 boys a little better.

"She normally runs any where in the condo she wants but my 2 boys have to stay downstairs, she will NOT allow them to come upstairs where she sleeps & eats. No big fight, just a quick hiss at my boys and they are gone.....LOL The boys keep trying to come upstairs & slip by her, she usually wins.....

"She is a very special girl to me & my husband, she is loved very much"

Happy Tails: Noodles
"Just wanted to let you know how wonderful Noodles is doing. He is so loving and playful and happy and this picture is his evening routine of watching tv with us. We just love him soooo much! Great kitty. You all do such a wonderful job caring for all your kitty's. I will certainly send people your way! I will keep you guys updated."

Cat of the Week: Chez & Dante

Chez and Dante aren't brothers by birth, but they met at our adoption center and have been best buds ever since. These two energetic boys need to be adopted together. Chez is black & white, lanky with a long tail, and is about one year old. Dante is white with brown tiger markings and is a bit older, about one and a half years old.

Both boys like to play, but they also like to be held and petted - sometimes they have trouble deciding which they prefer. One minute they may race from one end of the shelter to another, playing kitty tag, and the next they are at your feet waiting for pets. Chez particularly likes to try to cuddle when people do the dishes.

These two would make a fun, lovable addition to any household. Please drop by our center in Granby and meet them.

Happy Tails: Jen
"Hi! I adopted Jen on November 6th. She is a great cat and we love her so much. She loves to cuddle and sleep with us. Every morning she comes in bright and early and licks our faces, lays on top of us and purrs very loudly. Today when I fell asleep on the couch, she fell asleep on top of me! I added the picture that Pascal took of us. She still likes to bite but it isn't as bad. She runs around like a wild woman at least twice a day and loves the scratching post. She's a very good cat and we couldn't be happier! Thank you for everything!!"

iGive and Cyber Monday

Because of Cyber Monday, we thought we'd do an extra blog post about iGive.

Mary's Kitty Korner is glad to be an organization listed on iGive (isearch.igive.com), a site that donates money to non-profits for each search a member makes and each online purchase made at certain stores (Amazon, Target, Expedia, Best Buy, and 940 others)!

Cat of the Week: Midgeon & Seymour

Seymour and Midgeon NEED to go together. They are siblings and very bonded. Let me tell you about the babies. I consider these lovely's Ying and Yang kittens.

Seymour is the edgy looking cat while Midgeon is the soft cat. They have been riding along with me in my car while I work since they were 4 weeks old. They love to ride. They explore the car, use the litter box when needed and when they are ready to nap they either curl up together in the seat or in my lap.

They both love to cuddle with each other and in the lap. Midgeon even loves to climb up onto my shoulder and snooze. They are both absolute sweethearts. They would love a family that loves, laughs, cuddles, plays and wants two adorable kittens. Both kittens get along with the other cats and my older dog.

Give me a call for more information. Heidi - 413-246-8151

Cat of the Week: Dutch

Meet Dutch. A handsome, sweet kitty on a mission. His mission: to patrol, and explore every nook and cranny, and when he's done, to do it again! No mouse, or bug, or shadow will escape his notice.

A highly intelligent young fellow, Dutch is quite comfortable with his fellow felines, loves pats and attention, and is quite playful. Dutch will charm you with his alert gaze, and keep you entertained with his antics. Dutch does come with a health issue, he has kitty asthma. We will provide you with his inhaler, which he takes beautifully and he has not had a single episode since on his meds.

He is a great cat, so don't let this small concern scare you. Call us for more info! He is otherwise extremely healthy. He would be perfectly happy with other cats, or as a single cat.

Cat of the Week: Honey

Honey is a great kitty who absolutely loves to be petted. She calls out softly from her cage if she thinks you are going to walk by without petting her. Honey is beautiful, petite and incredibly silky soft. She loves to cuddle up in your lap.

Honey is a sweet cat who was returned to us after three years when her family brought home a puppy that Honey didn't care for. Poor Honey was tossed out of her home and then developed bladder stones. After major surgery, Honey made a full recovery and is ready to try a new home.

Please consider taking this girl home and showing her that love can be forever.

Happy Tails: Kiki

"We are so thrilled, she is doing phenomenally well, and we just love her.  At first I was a little nervous about introducing her to Sophie.  I kept her in the bedroom for about a week, and then gradually introduced them; let them sniff each other’s toys etc.  After a week I let her come out.  Sophie is not quite ready to play yet.  If Kiki comes too close she gives her a little hiss and Kiki walks away and is respectful of Sophie’s space.

"But there has been absolutely no fighting or growling or anything, just an occasional confrontation at first like that, that is improving even after two weeks.  She continues to stay upstairs, but has the free roam of the house if she wants.  Sophie tends to sleep with my son, Jack, and Kiki sleeps with me.  She is very friendly and very social towards people, hops on them and does that “patty paw” thing.  The name Kiki seems to have stuck."

They cuddle and play with each other and with us non stop. Dan has even taught Sammy to fetch a little bouncy ball. Shadow loves the little catnip toys."

Fostering

We are always looking for foster families and there is a great article out on Catster.com for anyone considering fostering.

"Becoming a foster provider to homeless cats or kittens can be rewarding and fulfilling, and may offer an ideal situation for families who are unwilling or unable to make a long-term commitment to a pet cat.

"Many cat rescue groups see finding cat foster homes is a vital part of their work. Sometimes these groups, which rescue cats and kittens from high-kill shelters, don't actually own facilities or shelters. The foster homes become an important stepping stone from the time the cat or kittens are rescued until they can be permanently placed for adoption.

"Before you decide to become a foster provider, it's a good idea to assess your situation and decide if fostering a cat is really right for you. If you have young children or dogs, or if you work long hours, you may not be able to provide a suitable home for some cats, and fostering a kitten may be nearly impossible. It helps if the whole family is committed to fostering, because each cat might be with you for several months. "

Cat of the Week: Arrista

Arrista is a beautiful young girl - just a little over three years old. She sits and watches the activity from her cage with her all-knowing gaze until someone notices her and finally gives her a visit. Then Arrista puts on the cute and mashes her face into your hands, purring up a storm. But if you dangle a toy in front of her, watch out! Play time is in session and she'll bat her toy around with great concentration and delight.

Please drop by the adoption center in Granby and visit this gorgeous little girl.

Pigeon is a sweet, gentle girl who loves people. She keeps to herself but is overjoyed if a person takes the time to pet her soft fur. Pigeon will purr endlessly for you. She's not entirely sure she likes other kitties yet. She would definitely jump at the chance to be the only kitty (more attention for her!).

Please drop by our adoption center in Granby and visit this sweet pea.

Cat of the Week: Jack

Jack is a great guy. About five years old, he loves to romp around the shelter. His meow is more of a questioning chirp and, as you can see, there is a chance it will come from over your head.

He loves to be pet while he's lying in one of the cat beds, but thinks you are playing a game of chase if you try to pet him while he is walking around.

Happy Tails: Pumpkin and Precious

"Precious is adapting very well. She is affectionate, playful, purring, eating and pooping!!! :o)...Yesterday I kept the bedroom door opened all day so she could start exploring the rest of the house. She kept sitting outside the door in the hall meowing loudly -- but never budged. I couldn't coax her out any further than the hallway. I'm sure eventually she will venture out. She will be fine.

"Pumpkin is coming around very, very slowly. His home has been under the bed...When I leave the room, I know he does come out a little and explores the room. I caught him under the pillow on the bed yesterday, so at least he came out from under the bed. He is starting to make eye contact with me when I look at him. I'll just keep talking to him and give him his space."

Cat of the Week: Diamond

Diamond is a sweet girl and pretty too (looking a bit like she's wearing a Zorro mask)! She is residing at our Granby location. Diamond would like a nice home with a feline companion. She really likes the company of other cats.

Diamond is a bit timid when she meets people, but warms up quickly (especially if you have a treat) and will soon rub and purr up a storm. She'll also press her head against your leg and shake her tail as you pet her.

If you are interested in this beautiful tuxedo come visit her and see if the chemistry is right!

Cat of the Week: Samantha

Samantha is a vey special girl. She adores people and especially loves to give them head butts. Poor Samantha had her tail amputated, but it hasn't stopped her from being a bright-eyed, cheerful girl. Although she thinks people are the best thing since sliced bread, she doesn't feel quite the same about other kitties and would like to be the only kitty in the house.

Please drop by and visit this sweet, plump little girl at our adoption center in Granby.

Foster Spotlight: River

River is a very special girl, and ready for a Home to call her own!!! She is a Lynx Point Siamese and a very petite little thing. She is a real love bug and just wants to be with you! She enjoys being around people and will sit with you for hours... She also has a GREAT meow! She actually rolls her tongue when calling out to you :)

As you can see below, when she is happy in someone's arms, River will cross her eyes and stick out her tongue a bit.

River is deaf, but it does not seem to slow her down. She would do best in a home with no other animals.
