Happy Tails: Kiki

"We are so thrilled, she is doing phenomenally well, and we just love her.  At first I was a little nervous about introducing her to Sophie.  I kept her in the bedroom for about a week, and then gradually introduced them; let them sniff each other’s toys etc.  After a week I let her come out.  Sophie is not quite ready to play yet.  If Kiki comes too close she gives her a little hiss and Kiki walks away and is respectful of Sophie’s space.

"But there has been absolutely no fighting or growling or anything, just an occasional confrontation at first like that, that is improving even after two weeks.  She continues to stay upstairs, but has the free roam of the house if she wants.  Sophie tends to sleep with my son, Jack, and Kiki sleeps with me.  She is very friendly and very social towards people, hops on them and does that “patty paw” thing.  The name Kiki seems to have stuck."

Happy Tails: Elijah (now Sammy) & Shadow

"They are doing so well and we are all crazy about them! Meal time is a riot, shadow dances around and Sammy has been known to jump from the counter onto my shoulder, no claws of course. They cuddle and play with each other and with us non stop. Dan has even taught Sammy to fetch a little bouncy ball. Shadow loves the little catnip toys."

Fostering

We are always looking for foster families and there is a great article out on Catster.com for anyone considering fostering.

"Becoming a foster provider to homeless cats or kittens can be rewarding and fulfilling, and may offer an ideal situation for families who are unwilling or unable to make a long-term commitment to a pet cat.

"Many cat rescue groups see finding cat foster homes is a vital part of their work. Sometimes these groups, which rescue cats and kittens from high-kill shelters, don't actually own facilities or shelters. The foster homes become an important stepping stone from the time the cat or kittens are rescued until they can be permanently placed for adoption.

"Before you decide to become a foster provider, it's a good idea to assess your situation and decide if fostering a cat is really right for you. If you have young children or dogs, or if you work long hours, you may not be able to provide a suitable home for some cats, and fostering a kitten may be nearly impossible. It helps if the whole family is committed to fostering, because each cat might be with you for several months. "

Cat of the Week: Arrista

Arrista is a beautiful young girl - just a little over three years old. She sits and watches the activity from her cage with her all-knowing gaze until someone notices her and finally gives her a visit. Then Arrista puts on the cute and mashes her face into your hands, purring up a storm. But if you dangle a toy in front of her, watch out! Play time is in session and she'll bat her toy around with great concentration and delight.

Please drop by the adoption center in Granby and visit this gorgeous little girl.

Cat of the Week: Pigeon

Pigeon is a sweet, gentle girl who loves people. She keeps to herself but is overjoyed if a person takes the time to pet her soft fur. Pigeon will purr endlessly for you. She's not entirely sure she likes other kitties yet. She would definitely jump at the chance to be the only kitty (more attention for her!).

Please drop by our adoption center in Granby and visit this sweet pea.

Happy Tails: Magsde (Magsey)
"I just wanted to let you know that Magsey is doing very well, and is a much loved member of our family. As I type this email, she is sitting on my lap, purring and reaching up with her paws to try to lick me! My son and daughter absolutely adore her, and love to play fetch with her with the crinky balls. Thanks again for recommending the perfect match for our family."
